Haggai 1:8 -
"Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that
I may take pleasure in it and that I may appear in my glory,
says the LORD."
The
Building
We have in
mind a church building that will sit approximately 300 people,
with meeting rooms and offices. The church building and community
center will be used to hold services, conduct ceremonies, teach
Sunday school, daycare and other classes as well as serve as
a meeting place for community members. The community center will
also be used
to share the great history, heritage, art work and the work of God in Kenya.
We hope to include some green space for outdoor activities as
well.
Funding
We plan to
raise $2 million in the next few years to see the project
through.
Several means have been set up to help us realize this goal.
As a church community, we have made an annual pledge, which every
member will fulfill for the next three years. We have bake sales
as well as after our service.
In the spirit of "harambee" (community pulling together),
we have two annual benefits and a monthly collection. We are also
members of cars4causes, an organization that receives donations
of cars, vans, boats, etc and gives the
donor a tax deductible receipt while the church receives proceeds
from the sale.
Through these
facilities, we hope to create a broader understanding of the
greater African heritage and celebration of our lives here
in the United States through performances, speeches
and shows.
The goodness
of God, His abundance and provision to us is very clear to
our hearts and we hope to demonstrate this though activities
and services we hold at the church and Community
Center.

Building Fund Committee
