RE: PROPOSED BUILDING OF CHURCH SANCTUARY AND COMMUNITY
CENTER
Dear Friends,
The Kenyan Intl. Community Church has come to a momentous point
on our path. We have felt the calling to get up and Build for the
Glory of God as well as the good of Our Community.
VISION
Our goal is to build a Church Sanctuary and Community Center where
we will conduct services and host special events. Included in this
would be some green space for outdoor activities. The end result
will be the KENYAN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY CHURCH CENTER.
The community center will be a multi-use building where weddings
and other social gatherings for up to 300 people can be held. We
aspire to use the space for conducting classes about Kenya – our
ancestral homeland as well as Sunday school classes. We would like
to incorporate an indoor gymnasium if this can be accommodated
in the building. The gymnasium will be used for Basketball as well
as other physical activities that lead to healthy living. There
will also be some meeting space for committees and small gatherings.
FUNDING
We believe
we can raise adequate funds to see this project become a reality
by Easter 2006. To this end, we started a building fund,
to which we have been depositing the funds collected for this effort.
The projection is to eventually raise $2M that we know God will
afford to us.
Several means will be used to raise these funds:
1. Church Members have been asked to pledge annual contributions
of $500 per Household to which they can add more money if they
are so moved. Several members have already met their full obligation
and we are greatly encouraged.
2. Bake Sales will be initiated on Sundays after church services
with proceeds going to the fund.
3. Several funds drives (benefits) will be held, first with guests
invited from our immediate community and secondly from out of state.
4. Matching funds will be sought from a Sponsor (s).
Because
we are all in this community, we ask that you consider contributing
to this worthy cause. This Center will
be a place
for us to rally around as a Community of God’s People and
as an asset to all of us, our children will benefit from it.
Like people of Old, we have felt the calling of God to build a
place for him - To bring a part of the bounty he has bestowed on
us as part of our thanksgiving and appreciation. In addition as
an immigrant community, we will become part of a long tradition
of adding to the American mosaic. Like other immigrants have brought
part of their ancestral culture to America, this will be our contribution
to this historical legacy as we are a people with a great past
and things to share.
Please think about your role in this Great venture and may God
continue to bless you as you go along your work and that of building
for His Great Name.
Thank You.
